This is an excellent product for the money and should provide all the extra outlets you need. However, be careful not to plug in too many devices that consume a lot of power: just because you will now have room to plug in a lot of electrical devices does not mean that the power line they are plugged into will handle the additional load. Today, we are using many devices (particularly at our desks) that do not draw a lot of power, like telephones, small stereos; cell phone and bluetooth rechargers, etc. This strip is perfect for these purposes. But if you plug in a large screen TV or air conditioner or heater, (or anything else which consumes a lot of power) in addition to these other things, you are likely to trip your circuit breaker, or worse, create a fire hazard.
Also, do not depend too heavily on the surge protection contained in this or any power strip. If you want to protect your computer or other valuable and sensitive device, get yourself a “UPS” (uninterrupted power sourse). Depending upon the size you need (which in turn depends upon what you are protecting and how long you need the power supply to run in the event of a power failure) you will generally spend $100 or more for this device. Yes, that’s a good deal more than a power strip which claims to provide the same protection, but you will thank yourself the first time there is a serious electrical problem on your line. A UPS is also superior to a strip surge protector in that it will allow you to use your computer or other device when the power is out; the more sophisticated ones actually come with software which will shut down your computer in the event of a power failure even when you are not present.

Someone in my dorm caused a surge. All the lights dimmed and my panamax sacrificed itself. Although I lost it all of my electronics are safe. I called the company and im sending in $10 and getting a new one. Also I am upgrading for 50% off to the M8-EX! Can’t wait! Awesome Product, highly recommend.

The Panamax and Monster surge protectors came highly recommended by my AV home installer and by the writers of consumer electronics articles I read spurring this purchase. I am in the process of replacing all of my aging surge protectors. Item was received as expected.

I took a power hit and it took out my PS3, 9 days after warranty was up.(of course)
So I contacted Panamax to put claim in, and they said I didn’t have the right model which was PM8-EX. They denied me. So if your going to use this model for your entertainment center DON’T. Use the PM8-AV model for accepted claim warrenties.

I recently purchased the PM8-EX surge protector for my home computer. It has plenty of outlets and great technical specs. The warranty is the best available with the easiest claim process. I highly recommend Panamax over the other brands that cost more but provide less protection or make it almost impossible to collect on a claim.
